The Most Games You Want To Play
Let me make a little list for you: Bioshock, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Crackdown, Guitar Hero II & III, The Orange Box, Halo 3, Forza 2, Skate, Rock Band, COD4. Are all these Xbox 360 exclusive? No. But you can play them all on the Xbox 360 (along with a 2006 catalog that had some decent titles as well). And in the case of quite a few of these games, they are running better on Xbox 360 than other consoles. There's simply more good stuff to play on the 360 than any other modern console and, for the most part, that content is running better on the 360.

Where are the RPGs, platformers, adventure games, party games, puzzle games or countless other genres ... The XBox 360's line-up is drool worthy for some gamers and absolutely borring to others

What are you talking about??? Almost every genres you mention is in that list above.

RPG - Mass Effect, Eternal Sonita
Adventure - Assassin's Creed
Party Games - Rock Band
Puzzle Games - Tons on XBLA, try Puzzle Quest

360 is diverse, you just haven played a 360 I suspect.

Xbox Live Is Still The King
Even with all the alternatives on the market, no one can look Microsoft straight in the eye and claim that there's a service more complete or polished than Xbox LIVE. And their arcade titles are complimenting the service, not just through spec-sheet pleasing "leaderboards," but massive amounts of co-op injected into new and old titles alike. I have huge hopes for Home and the few PSN titles out there are fantastic, but LIVE tips the scales of me buying/playing a game on the 360 instead of the PS3...daily. As for Nintendo, their infrastructure is the equivalent of a 1991 AOL member homepage with animated mailbox gifs and site counters. It's shamefully outdated, and not in the ironic way.

XBox Live may be the best online service, but much like their game line-up this is great for some while being pointless to others

What?!?!? If it not great for some they will not get gold. Live is the best online experience.

Speaking of XBLA
Nintendo's Virtual Console has been cooking all year and maybe every game that's hit PSN should be played this year. But the XBLA releases are just so damn smart and diverse that the experience trumps its competitors. Let's take a case in point: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the 1989 arcade game. The Wii's Virtual Console picked up the title from their NES library. XBLA grabbed the full, uncompressed arcade source code...and then they added the co-op LIVE experience. But this isn't about one case, it's about a trend. We see both the same polish and variety in XBLA titles as we do their Xbox 360 counterparts, be they remakes or original titles (Battlestar Galactica and Wing Commander Arena excluded, of course).

XBox Live Arcade is a good service and even though some of their games are better than the Virtual Console, the Virtual Console is still the most diverse service available on the market.

Does VC have any new games? Most people have already been emulating these games for years with better graphics.

DivX Darkhorse
Frankly, I'm a lot more excited about the PS3's future as a media hub than maybe any electronic device on the market today. But Microsoft matched what may have been Sony's biggest attack of the year: DivX and XviD support. As of right now with limited but decent movie downloads and new codec streaming capabilities, the 360 has found a respectable balance in the ecosystems of most home theaters (even if the DVD playback quality has been panned).

Great capability, what does this have to do with the XBox 360 being a videogame system though?

It dosen't, its about being a media hub.

Why DIdn't I Pick the DS??
The DS has won sales and invigorated the public. But as a gamer (technically a "hardcore" gamer maybe, but not nearly the level of some) I can appreciate that the stuff that drops your jaw, turns your stomach and makes you spaz out to friends over—that content is found on the full-sized consoles. And XBLA fills some of those casual gaming gaps and 2D arcade action to round out the experience. Besides, I'm not saying that you should ONLY play the Xbox 360, but I am saying that if you could only play one system in 07, the 360 was probably your best bet.

Why Didn't I Pick The [Fill In Console I Own]
I clearly hate you, your family and your dog.

Objectively speaking, the Nintendo DS was the gaming device of the year ... Not picking the DS was the sign of a biased and unfair criteria

And here I thought PC has won. It has even good strategy games like Galactic Civilations 2 and
Civ4 BTS. When it comes to online and FPS I still prefer PC over console.

You can hate me. You can hate my family. NOBODY DISRESPECTS MY DOG!!

In all objectivity, the console that sold most software should be the real winner. And I'm pretty sure that would be the DS again.

I'm not sure about the Wii versus Xbox360 though, not including the bundled games the 360 sold far more software. Nintendo owned the holidays though but not enough to beat the xbox360 overall software sold during 2007.

That being said, Wii will own software and hardware in 2008 just behind the DS.

This is kind of a good news/bad news situation for the 360. If it had all these wonderful games and yet struggled to hold off the PS3 for 2nd, what happens when the PS3 has many more games available.

The Wii had the best year unless you mostly enjoy shooters and sports games.

Thank you sir you deserve a cookie

Happy half of those things dont make sense

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Proud supporter of all 3 console companys

Proud owner of 360wii and DS/psp

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Thats absolutly  no different for sony, they had to cut price twice to keep up, what happens when MS can cut price and they cant?

I say Console sales numbers determine who won Wii all around best bc it had an awesome first year, unlike 360. Also if i had to search for a 2007 awarad for 360 it would only b for America only place where still sort of dominate. Bias reporters should b shot.

This biase crap is getting rediculas, im sick of hearing it from every danm ps3 owner on game trailers. THey are getting so danm paranoid that when the guy said at the end of the lair clip "this is the end" they said that meant ps3 sucks.

ITs not biase its opinion, and a well backed up opinion, NUMEROUS sites have stated 360 was the best console to have of 2007 thats fact.

honestly the Wii won the year..

Goes to the point that while one side may say the Wii won, the other half is going to argue that it's the 360.

I think the only thing that may be true is who lost 2007.

honestly the console which lost was the Xbox 360. Better games doesnt translate to which console sold more.  Sony clearly managed to outpace Microsoft in the retail market,.

Barely and that took two price cuts. That and the fact of how much they have to sacrifice to actually sell barely more should tell you how much they had to sacrifice to outpace.

Heads I win, tails you lose.

Wait a minute...?

Personally I will say I win, because I got some great games and played the hell out of them, I wish I could have won by a larger margin (ie buy more great games and almost play the hell out of them) but alas I shall have to wait till next year when there may be some budget titles.
