Sonic the Hedgehog

Genesis / Sonic Team / 1991
Guessed by Veknoid_Outcast

Created back in the 90s as Sega's response to Mario, Sonic's first game was truly magical and holds a special place in my heart as one of the biggest games of my childhood. This is definitely one of the best platformers I've played and every level is very well made - even if some managed to get pretty annoying. The soundtrack was also very good, as well as the visuals (especially considering it's a 1991 title), and the boss battles are also very well done - the final boss, in fact, is probably one of the most intense I've played in a game, considering you have no coins to endure a hit and you know that if you lose all your lives, it's all over. I never managed to beat this game as a kid, and the closest I got to see the ending back then was when I watched my brother get to Scrap Brain Zone and tragically lose his only life on the very first trap of Act 1. Oh, the memories.
