Rage is on the way, and for movies The Road just came out. But I wouldn't say Post Apocolyptic is being used that heavily. It's not like we have another mad max movie yet.

Fallout is a 12 year old franchise. I don't see how that counts as a new, cool thing.
Anyways, post apocalyptic setting are always cool. It's an exclusive club that never goes out of style like zombies, ninjas and pirates.
What I'm really getting sick of are games where you have to save the world. Yawn.
