Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Guilty Gear 2: Overture worth buying?

The game is selling currently for $8.99 on newegg.com with free shipping, did anyone bother to play this game? I read its a mix between chaos legion and devil may cry, to be or not to buy?

Its really not anything like chaos legion nor devil may cry.Basicly you control you master tower and send out units but have to pay a mana cost. The objective is to destroy you opponents master tower which can only bedone with the monsters you summon because you can barely damage it.Once the tower sheild goes down you will be able to properly damage it,make its health go to 0% and you win.Sound simple? Well its not, along the way you have small servants coming out your master tower to take over smaller towers that provide mana, the enemy will do the same, you can personally do it but its slower. You can also win by taking on the enemy master head on.

Basicly its a fighting game with a hint of strategy and I loved it,but its either you love it or you hate it game.It has split screen which holds a steady frame rate despite all the allies/enemie on screen. The graphics are pretty good but there is some aliasing on the shadows.

Natal and Sony's flashing Ice cream cone

I bought it for full price and felt a little ripped off. I mean, it's not a bad game, but it isn't that great either. $30 or lower is reasonable for this game. $8.99 is a steal. Go for it.

It is an action-strategy game (not like normal RTS), which feels a bunch like Herzog Zwei, but a focus on melee combat, rather than the flying around.  You go across a map and summon units at control points you try to take over.  There is also a boss character like yourself in the game you also try to defeat.  So, I guess thinking about it now, it is a cross between Herzog Zwei and Dynasty Warriors series.  It would fit into the area of "cult" fan game.  For $9, I say go for it.
