Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Epic Mickey 2.5M LTD?

2.5 million might be a bit much but I think it will sell comfortably over a million just with the Mickey Mouse name on it. How popular is Mickey over in Japan?

EXTREMELY.

Japan is actually the second strongest Disney Market...

Tokyo Disney is the most successful out of america theme park.  It gets people of all ages visiting it etc.

Still... this game seems odd to me.

The game can easily go both ways seeing as we haven't much of the gameplay yet. Though Warren and Pixar are involved, hopefully it'll have the same quality as their other works. With that, 2.5M will probably be easy to achieve. But so far the early screenshots don't have that WOW factor yet. So let's see...

Pixar does better animation sleeping than 90% of the videogame community. Warren Spector is one of the few people in the industry who knows how to make real, and personalized experiences. He also knows a thing or two about revolutionizing gameplay and genre's and scoring with the critic community. (System Shock, Deus Ex, Ultima). I have high hopes.

There is really no barometer to predict sales for this game... especially so far before release. Yes, it could sell 2.5 million or more but we definitely need more information.

LTD = Life-to-Date.  It's a backwards looking measure.  It means how many units have sold "to-date".  The term you're looking for is "lifetime".

Yes. This was discussed earlier in the thread.

I pretty much agree with this.  We'll have to see how the game tunes up, and what sort of support Disney actually throws behind it.

Let me add by saying I also believe Epic Mickey will sell over 2.5 M. I have high hopes for Spector. Funny thing is, this was supposed to be a 360/PS3 game when it was concieved.
