they are both great machines

one is great, and one is decent (at best)... i don't feel that i need to elaborate further on this matter, because it is obvious which one is the best value out of the box. oh well, i'll do it anyways.

PS3:

+ EPIC 1st/2nd party.

+ Blu-ray (With this comes nearly (99%) SCRATCH FREE games).

+ Reliable console.

+ Good VARIETY in games, talking about 1st/2nd party (or 3rd party exclusives only, as neither Sony or MS can control shovel ware).

+ Wifi included.

+ HDD included, and both cheap and easy to switch to ANY 2.5" S-ATA HDD.

+ Does NOT include a headset. Only serious players will buy a headset. I actually played Halo 3 last weekend, 4 of 6 players were spamming kids.

+ PS1 BC. Yeah, PS2 BC is a minus, so PS1 BC is a plus

- YLOD (not too serious, I know 2 out of 30 that got it).

- Controller batteries - don't have to buy extra, but once they are dead you'll have to buy a new controller.

- Should include HDMI cables really, not a price issue, but for consumer value and "enlightenment" - "you need HDMI cable".

- Expensive...? Can't really use that one anymore... If you consider what you get in PS3, 360 + extras have always been more expensive anyways.

- Slow DLs and installs, personally I do not care.

- No PS2 BC. I don't care, and if you have (tons of) PS2 games and no PS2, WHY!? PS2 is better for PS2 games than PS3 anyways.

- No x-game chat, personally, I do not care.

360:

+ Disc scratching, I love how my console breaks my games.

+ Unreliable - the more consoles I have to repair/buy, the better!!

+ VERY noisy (but, but you can install on the HDD... if you have one that is, if you don't, we'll take that $100 bill thank you very much... LOL), it sounds like you are in an airplane sitting by the engines.

+ Paid online gaming. While a little better than PSN (maybe), they do not have dedicated servers which is just laughable. and teh classic: if I buy a game, I also have to pay MS to enjoy all aspects of a game they never put any effort in making, that's real nice!!

+ EPIC 2nd/3rd party, i'm allergic to 1st party games.

+ Headset included - I love listening to kids while I am playing.

+ DVD - who cares about the future and stuff like that...? I love being stuck in the past!!!!

+ Facebook, Twitt...errrrrr...... uhm..... hint: web browser

+ lack of variety in games. yeah i said it! nearly all of the most popular 360 games include action/guns and/or a futuristic setting (halo, gears, l4d, mass effect, mw2). actually both HD consoles have too many shooters.

+ Expensive peripherals/extras. Because great quality is expensive!!!

+ Best graphics! Just take a look at the BIG difference in all 3rd party games. 360 wins HANDS DOWN!!

+ Most exclusives are also on PC. This is great since I can play watered downed PC games on my 360! ex: Mass Effect and the 360's perfect framerate!

- no minuses here!! or maybe some of the pluses....?? have fun

and to criticize some...

PS3 won features, does that equals the better games the Xbox 360 has? I don't think so.

PS3 won design, does that equal the better online gameplay the Xbox 360 offers? Of course not.

And they did not mention that there currently is no Xbox 360 Elite that does not come with two full games. On the other side there is currently no PS3 that does come with a game (except for Black Friday bundles). Check Amazon.com"

Answer:

Yeah! The main point is games! But I would also have to be able to PLAY my games. Good design leads to better reliability and better reliability leads to less repairs. Less repairs leads to more time to play my games. Does 360 have the better games? IMO, FAR FROM IT. The only game I would play is Mass Effect (maybe Alan Wake and some others I can't really remember) and I am not stupid enough to play the 360 version over the PC version. Superior online? Why?? x-game chat? less lag?? I barely notice any lag when I play Sony games on DEDICATED SERVERS.

And last but not least, in my country and many places all over the world, you can get PS3 bundled with games. and they're usually good games too, not like that amazing 360 - Pure / Lego Batman bundle I see on TV everyday...

YOU FAIL... and according to some peeps here, i probably fail as well..

out.

If you are at all familiar with Cnet then you'd know that this is how they do it when reviewing/compairing things. Cnet seems to me to be for the average consumer that doesn't feel like scouring forums to find out information. And I think that they do a decent job from that point of view. They look at the overall capabilities and value of things. Here is a classic Cnet type review: This Panasonic Blu-Ray player has excellent video playback and audio as well, load times are a little slow but tolerable. We did however find it lacking in certain features that have become standard with other Blu-Ray players at this price point such as Netflix compatability and therefore had to dock some of it's score. Sorry I should have italicized my faux Cnet review. Anyway in this example, I could care less about Netflix because I already have it through the 360 and I would focus more on the excellent video quality. But there are a lot of people that this would matter to and Cnet takes things like that into consideration. I'm not trying to knock Cnet either, I have no problem with their evaluation process, I just don't consider them the say all end all for any of their reviews.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

I'm locking this thread for 2 reasons.

1) Already turning into a troll fest, I can see major arguments starting.

2) Please do not make threads with just links, please explain the link, talk about the subject, add some context.

You can remake the thread, but it should stay clean, and have more OP content.
