Forums - Sony Discussion - Resident Evil 5 Wand Gameplay

Also, I laugh at all the people calling stupid on the DS3. Sony is not launching a completley new controller scheme. They are launching a product that runs along with the DS3. This is a fantastic idea. The DS3 is incredibly light, far lighter than the 360 controller(which is probably what most of you calling crap are holding to compare). It also has the absolute best feel for one hand, it has the best stick and the best pad feel. The only thing it lacked over the 360 to be the best controller ever is the placement of the second stick, which is now a wand. The wand is so unbelievably accurate. Watch it, it doesn't shake or drip/drop at all. The wii reticule is all over the place, even with motion+. Sony have really crafted a fine piece of hardware here, as usual. Expect a DS3 that cuts in half or a single analog stick for the controller. However, there is no reason for me to get that, because the ds3 and a wand will far out do every other controller scheme available this generation besides kb/mouse.

Seriously, go pick it up. Its very light, and it feels much better than the chuck.

The LBP Play was amazing, very nice to see.

lol...Nintendo must be pissed. "We thought of this damn it"

if natal is a hit you can expect something similar on PS3 in a couple of years.

like the eyetoy and the PSEye, yeah, I do expect something similar from Sony.

Natal looks great, but a blatent rip off of the Eyetoy/ PSeye is all it is.

Which is a blatant rip off of the Sega Dreamcast Camera.

Whatever game companies do today...in some way shape or form, Sega did it first.

absolutely, Just don't go acting like Natal is some sort of revolution. Its choppy, inaccurate, and hardly going to work better than the other motion controls.

why not 2 wands one with an analogue each.. Don't screw this up ! .. it's so simple.

How many of you even played RE 4 Wii? Even for the wii you still hold two controllers (nunchuck + wiimote). This might not be the best way of playing RE5 but it will do untill Sony or some 3rd party makes a nunchuck style of controller for the PS3. If you think that shooting with the standant controller is faster, than play the shooting gallery game on RE4 with the gamecube or classic controller and then with the nunchuck + wiimote. The nunchuck + wiimote wins all the time.

An analog stick on the second wand would probably be clumsy anyway, because it would naturally go under your thumb that is also the location for the top button. By the images it doesnt look like there's space to put it between the the button and the far extremity with the current design, and putting it nearer is obviously impossible because it would be in the way of your thumb.

Unless they substitute the stick with something like a small circular touch area, like a trackpad. Making it slightly concave would let you feel its center with your thumb and at least nothing would get physically in the way when you're not using it.

To be honest, this feature is too little, too late for myself. I loved RE4 Wii, and the entire reason I didn't buy RE5 is because I wanted it to be on the Wii instead of the PS3/360.

Now that this feature is being added over a year later, I just don't care for it in the least. I played the game, found the story and characters sorely lacking (I felt that they completely ruined Wesker, he said "time to die, Chris!" like 100 times in RE5 like a typical villain), and I have little desire to go back and play it again, even with superior control.

Each wand should constitute half a dualshock 3. That would be the perfect motion controller (not in shape but buttons and functionality)

IE each should have a analogue. If nothing else make it a small one like on the psp and stick it either below or between the 4 face buttons.

OK, that was very, very weird. Why there isn't any analogue stick in these wands?
