RE4 on the Wii/GC/PS2 is easily the best for me. I liked the old school RE's but RE4 fixed all their problems and kept to it's horror roots. In a second place though is RE0. It was the only one that actually freaked me out throughout the entire game. A close third is RE on the GC.

I enjoyed RE2 and RE3 but considering they never got remade for the better it's hard to put it up there with RE1. Never played Code Veronica though... but from what I heard it wasn't that great. RE5 was a complete disappointment though.

Remake is the best RE game overall, and it's also the scariest damn game ever released, RE4 is a piece of garbage, im saddened by how many of you think that piece of crap is the best, kettleheads!

Resident Evil Remake is by far the best survival horror game ever.

For me, it goes: Remake, Silent Hill 2, Zero, Silent hill 1, Re2

I've yet to play 3 or finish Silent hill 3. I will soon, though.

 

Edit: I misread the title. I thought this was best survival horror game. xD

 

Still, Resident Evil on GCN wins.
