Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Where's Nintendo's free WiiConnect DLC?

With talk about how SquareEnix is ripping off gamers by charging a ton for their DLC I'm left wondering what ever happened to Nintendo's free DLC. I remember at E3 2006 Reggie stated that with WiiConnect gamers would have a new experiance downloaded every few days sometimes. That the Wii would automatically download new content for software and that gamers would have an ever changing gaming enviroment.

Well its been a few years and their still isn't any Nintendo DLC let alone free DLC distributed by WiiConnect24. I remember the day it was announced thinking man with SmashBros:Brawl coming out new maps and playable characters are going to be released catching us all off gaurd. I remember after Brawl coming out expecting Tails and other characters to be downloadable in the near future.

MarioKart also had my expectations high. But to no evail. No downloadable content was ever seen on any of Nintendo's first party games. Now were seeing downloadable content for third party games but its costing a mini-fortune and its not using WiiConnect24.

So where is my new experiances that Reggie promised WiiConnect24 would deliver?

Anybody work at Nintendo or know what ever happened to Nintendo's DLC?

Am I alone in beeing dissapointed in WiiConnect24? I mean I even get free Halo map packs where's my SmashBros map pack?

Animal Crossing: City Folk, monthly item give a ways!!!!!!!!!! :O

It's funny how gamers are so blinded by what they want, that they don't see what they get. Mario Kart has weekly tournaments where you are challenged to do courses differently than anything that came on disc, whether it's collecting coins, running through gates, etc. Samsh Bros downloads user submitted stages, videos, photos.

Blinded by lust.

As others said, those three games (SSBB, MKWii, AC:CF) give you that functionality, Wii Music allows to trade songs

It's out there. Reggie's description was just a little over-ambitious.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well, ACCF, Tiger 10, Mario Kart, SSBB, and BB Bash Party all have free DLC like that.

Animal Crossing CF!
:D

^click the license to level it up! Please, and thanks in advance!

=D

though it's a kinda small feature in each of the games, ssbb, mkwii, and animal crossing all have free dlc of some sort.

ssbb has daily user made levels, screenshots, and replays, mkwii has bi-monthly tournaments where the download changes details of courses already on the disc to make a unique challenge for people to compete for highscores. and finally, animal crossing has a free monthly dlc item.

you can argue that they should be using wiiconnect24 more, but you can't argue that they AREN'T using it.
