Brain Training!! Seriously that thing was made by two guys and has sold millions.

Well, I make a Bet with WoW. And we have all those Blizzard games, last time I heard Diablo II sold 20 million. Warcraft,WoW,Diablo,StarCraft and some other I can't remember are so high, Blizzard make a few games, but the few they make are all Legendary in matter of quality and profit.

Blizzard should be the company that have most profit per title.

WoW.

But GT5 may end up being the most profitable console title since GT 5 Prologue pretty much covered all development costs. The rest should be pure profit.

I thought it was a team of a couple people working for half a year, with a group of 8 or 9 people who worked on it (on and off) for 3 months?

I think it is certainly the best return on investment of any game I have ever heard of ...

It couldn't be any of the Rockbands, or Guitar Hero's. This is about profitability. While those do extremely well, they have to pay liscensing for each of those songs, and I'm sure that that is a hefty fee.

WoW has so many employees in the world playing to help, people on phone lines for issues, tons of servers, and I'm sure way more than I can even think of. Surely it makes a huge profit, but not record holding.

I'd go with something like Wii Sports, or Tetris. These are games that have sold insane numbers, and cost practically dirt to make.

Both bundled games?

wow i don't think half the people in this thread know the definition of profit. Even so the answer is probably WoW, yea there are expenses involved as well but millions bought the game, then the expansion, then paid the monthly fee for years.

You could argue wii sports and say that many people would not have bought a wii without it, but that's not an easily measurable statistic.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

The thing y'all have to consider is that an MMO has to build up userbase. It hasn't been at 10 million since the moment it was released. It probably still is the most profitable, but the argument a lot of you are making isn't valid.

Another heavy hitter is Maple Story. It had 50 million players in Asia, and that was a couple of years ago (very popular in China). It's got a humongous userbase in the States as well. While it doesn't have monthly fees, it makes a ton on micro transactions. I believe it made 220 million the FIRST YEAR after its introduction (a very long time ago), and it's grown exponentially in popularity since then. Also, consider how little it took to create. It's a 2D side scrolling, sprite-based, MMORPG. Most of the cost of maintenance is servers, I'm betting.

If MS is making $16m/mo, that puts it in a very strong position, but WoW is making far more than that. Blizzard, in 07 (in which, WoW had a much smaller userbase) reported sales of $1.2 Billion USD for the year. That was with 7-8 million concurrent users (it's 11m now, FYI). That's nearly $100m/mo, and had profits exceeding $40 million USD a month. World of Warcraft hit $250 million USD a year in 2005. When you talk WoW players, you have to factor in:

  • Boxed Product Cost ($20 a player at any store)
  • $3-15 monthly subscription (varies on payment plan and location. Asia is cheaper, but the West charges upto $15/mo)
  • Expansions (Another $20+ a pop)
  • Ad monetization on Battle.net and other sites (I actually have hard info on what they make on this, but I don't think I can say).

Between it all, I wouldn't be suprised if WoW is bringing in between $150 and $200 million a month now. Maple Story is doing phenominal, but you have to consider that it's revenue streams aren't going to be as hot as a subscription based service like WoW.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Well in my opinion probably Monopoly. Its the game where you literally make profit! It's incredible It's also the only game where a thimble can kick your big behind back to Baltic Avenue!

Easily WoW. Lol @ anyone saying anything else.

Pixel Art can be fun.
