All things considered, I'd say it's pretty safe to say that the girl IS the master sword brought to life. It's "Samus is a GIRL!?" all over again!

It could very well be a prequel, which would mean that the girl will eventually become the mastersword... in death. Remember, he game says the sword has a resting place. It chooses its heroes. The sword always had euphemisms mentioned surrounding its character... it could very well be that it was a character all along!

The ending will then kinda be like Navi fying off only, this time you get to put the girl to rest in her final form...

Really now? Nayru is fine but the other two are weird.

They weren't Goddesses in those games. They were, *ahem*, Oracles (i.e., normal people with significant destinies): Din the Oracle of Seasons, Nayru the Oracle of Ages (a Dance and Singer respectively). Farore had little canon role; she was just there to allow you to link between the two games (as the original planned third "Oracle" game was scrapped.)
