This is a great point! Both these systems have these rewards in place to show the world what kind of gamer u are and the PS3 does this better, IMHO. U can really tell how good a gamer your friends are, and, more interesting how they game just by checking their types of trophies quickly. Eg; Mike is at level 15, but, sadly only has 1 platinum and a lot of silver and bronze. Tells me he plays a lot, but rarely finishes his games. Love it!
Regular fimware updates have little changes to the PS3, too. Two firmware updates ago they added a little - to all the games that the other person u are comparing to has never played, insted of a 0% which could mean they have played it but never could acqired any trophies. Both are good, tho. |
360 does the same thing, and always has... Every time one of you points out something that Sony just started doing with the trophies, you have to realize that the 360 launched with it years ago.
You can see that your friend has a five digit gamerscore, but then you can click on him and see that he's playing all crap games, or getting a bunch of small achievements in arcade games, rather than joining the "1000 Club" on major titles, and it's always told you whether your friends (or anyone you've ever been online with) played a game or not, showing their score as "--g" or "0g" to differentiate.
Sony is catching up, but they haven't got there yet. If they can even get the "trophy case" into home properly, it will be a huge step up in the implementation.
Also: Someone's confused with this "I can't get achievements because I only have the free Silver memebrship..." nonsense. Yes, there are games that have multiplayer-only achievements, but even many of those can be achieved by playing with real friends, in person. Only the "ranked match" ones are specific to online vs. multiplayer.
