This situation with the Xbox360 and PS3 SKUs remind a bit of nVidia and ATI with their different graphics cards (X1900, X1900Pro, X1900GT, X1900XT, X1900XTX). Not a bad thing, just confusing the customers, IMO.

well,

I think PS3 cannot fight agaisnt the Xbox36 using her present bullet (games released in 2007).
so they "just" have to wait until the storm reduce by itself (and hope it will).

September was supposed to be the worst month for the PS3 since the Halo3 release date was announced ...

Time to Work !

Well sounds like Sony might actually try to keep the 80 Gig SKU/w Motorostorm pack-in at $599 for the Holidays. That would be a horrible decision. Sales would be so low compared to a competitively priced Xbox 360 & Halo 3 at $399 perhaps and Wii at $249.

Microsoft has to be salivating at the though of a $599 PS3 this Holiday Season, so they can keep their prices steady and make some big moola.

You are right, they were veterans... but unlike Sega, i believe Sony has a much better budget. I hear they are expecting to cling to the PS3 in the future too, so they will invest allot on their future "backbone"

It just depends on how much Sony is willing to lose for the cause...althought it seems they need a miracle right now, since Microsoft has a huge budget aswell. 2 beasts, each with their ups and downs...we can only sit and wait to see what they have stored for us ^^

Well I think if Sony doesn't make a pricing move, the Xbox will stay at $279/$349/$429 This holiday season, no price drop (no reason to).

You might see a pack in game or something like Premimum + game/controller for $349, but nothing with an actual SKU price drop.

In the future I wouldn't be shocked to see Microsoft either phase out the Core and have a $299 Premium next year and a $399 elite, or maybe a $249 Core an $349 elite.

Sony better do something before its big 07 and 08 titles hit the market because if the sells of the PS3 continue like they are now its going to hurt them with future exclusive titles.

^^ its most likely why sony wont drop its prices, they know MS will just do the same, so in the end it will most likely hurt them

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

I thought Kaz said no price drop this year? Maybe by end of March for their next one??? Did I read this wrong or something?

I think it's true. And since Sony said there will be no price drop by the end of 2007, I consider it highly likely that they will drop the price within this timeframe.

If they're going for cutthroat tactics, then before christmas this year will be the next drop, but that would be a dangerous move as they're already struggling to cope with the financial losses of the PS3 (selling plants, etc).

Perhaps, Spring or Summer of next year would be a more appropriate time, or as suggested above, when the 60GB sku sells out.
