Actually, I can understand one aspect of the complaint, the fact that it has the same move patterns.
Not having played it yet my opinion is obviously faulty, but, they could have at least changed the patterns to the players, thus making the game newish to even us players who have and love the original.
I will rent it first due to this.

Nintendo doesn't care about you.
Nintendo's target audience consists of people who probably never played the originals (children and the like). Making the game simple and friendly for them takes priority over pleasing you.
