I've just realised that Wii has about 4 games on the very edge of passing a million (like, 10k away). Should've checked first...
But my point remains valid... sort of :P

Damn, well there goes my reply. Yes, in 2 weeks time the Wii will have added at least 2 more million sellers.
Anyway, restart this thread or create a new one whenever you want and we'll see how it goes

Sssshhhh, it is okay.
Now the healing begins.

If you merely worked it out as the Wii gaining 2 on the 360 in this time period, then that's certainly an invalid way of working it out. if you had done that method a year ago you would have worked out that the 360 would accelerate away from the Wii in terms of number of million sellers. You have to remember that due to the Wii experiencing increasing marketshare and increasing 3rd party support, the rate at which it gains million sellers will be increasing relative to the rate at which the 360 is |
Since November 19, 2006 the Wii has sold 47. That means it has been out for 860 days and a million seller every 18.3 days.
Since November 22, 2005 the 360 has sold 61. That means it has been out for 1222 days and a million seller every 20 days.
Based on those stats, you can make an estimate on when the two will meet.

But that estimate relies on the assumption that nothing has changed since the start of the generation. When this thread is next made, I shall redo those statistics, and I predict that the Wii will have a much lower days/million seller number, due to the increase in 3rd party support

That very well could be.
I was always of the mind that the wii would end up with more million sellers. The fact that the 360 has lasted this long is incredible really considering its install base.
I'll look at it another way.
Wii: total tracked titles: 488
100K + : 272. 55% of all games make 100K.
250K +: 170. 35% of all games make 250K.
500K +: 107. 22% make 500K
750K +: 81. 16.5% make 750K.
1M +: 47. 9.5% make 1M.
Ps3. Total tracked titles: 275.

500K +: 77. 28% make 500K.
750K +: 42. 15% make 750K
