Forums - Sony Discussion - Can THIS kill the Wii ... not sure.

No.

Around the Network

That would only kill the Wii in an alternate reality where Boogie is the most popular Wii game.

It may have a small impact on Wii in the longer run: if Nintendo can't keep up a decent supply, I can see a few people (especially clueless gift-buyers) picking these up. Then a few months down the road when Wii is finally available a few people who got these may not see the need to buy it right away.

But will it "kill" Wii? Absolutely not. It'll just scrape up a few sales from people who couldn't get the Wii they really wanted.

I find it rather amusing that they chose the white color, obviously to fool people into getting it. "Oh look, I've found a Wii! And it's at a bargain price!" I've seen other "toys" trying to do this same kind of thing.

It would be even funnier if Nintendo decided to release their new colors this Christmas.

What's the possibility of someone being fool'd by that?

someone who is buying it for someone else but doesn't really know what it is. "uh, I thought this looked like what you pointed to in the magazine. and it was cheaper." Seriously, if the imitation didn't fool people (at least enough to get their attention) do you think companies would do it?

In Europe, I say it will out sell the Wii for a few weeks.

Oh snap! I'm going to return my Wii and Metroid for a game with more microphones!

"Playstation 2 is still selling as much as the new current generation market leader, Nintendo's Wii."

This is so annoying. I don't understand how some can claim this crap.

Also, the Wii has Boogie and High School Musical in November ( http://wii.ign.com/articles/804/804618p1.html ) which have similar songs.

Sony has more to worry about with this PS2 package costing Sony more to produce than the $129 version it looks as though it might make less money off of it and it could delay people buying the PS3 for years. Also, the next generation SingStar comes to PS3 in November (as does Rock Band) and people that have never may opt for the PS2 version instead of the PS3 version.

Anyway, as was mentioned, SingStar is a mostly Europe thing.

This won't even make the Wii flinch. On top of that the PS2 isn't selling anywhere NEAR the Wii now.

The most this will do is hurt PS3 sales by distraction instead of complementation.

No, it won't hurt the Wii at all.
