To be perfectly honest with you, as an exclusive owner of the Wii (only) with 9 or so games... i can definitivly say that a bunch of the games are kinda gimmicky... japanesy... or lame-ish ports. I don care, after playing Zelda, MOH, Tiger Woods, Rayman and Wii sports.... you know the console is good... its just the devlopers with rush-ware games that suck (for now).

However, if your a real serious gamer who really has a bug for top graphics (HD) and you own a ps3/360 with a HDTV... your GOING TO NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE.... the majority of people dont have HD tv sets anyway... so when a site like 1up chock-full of self-proclaimed video game zealots gives a harsh review to Wii games, you can fairly well bet that they A: are still hung up on 1080p BS, and B: resent the Wii's "less-than" approach being succesfull.

If you spent 400-600$ on a console, only to see it beaten by a 200$ one with lower "specs"... youd probably be annoyed and a little resentfull too.

 Now, even more importantly... when it comes to sports games.... the TV counts... by far, the predominent purchasers of HDTV and big Screens are sports enthusiasts. Watching the game on a big screen TV is so cliche its almost a rule. Which means there is a huge segment of those gamers for whom the quality of graphics IS very important.... in fact game-play has largly remained unchanged in sports games as the only factors worth improving when emulating real teams and sports is the control and the look.

The Wii trumps on control, but i dont think most gamers would say the margin huge enough to offset the visual trump of the 360/ps3.

Has anyone been warned or banned by ckmlb? I got the impression he was avoiding doing any actual mod'ing just to avoid these kind of discussions. Anyway, let's bring this back on topic. If you have a problem with a mod, PM/e-mail ioi about it. And then he can laugh at you and delete it and tell you to suck it up. ;)

I'm not quite sure why 1up thinks the Wii version is so much worse than the PS2 version, since the Wii version has everything the PS2 version has and a lot more if I'm not mistaken. The review reads like it was written by one of the hardcore gamer fanboys on a gaming forum rather than by an objective journalist.

He has certainly criticized me for a lot less. One could interpret this as a warning.

I know of a couple people he has at least warned, because he's kind enough to mail me when he deals with posts that I report.  I can safely say he has no objections to warning or banning people on either side of the fence.  Oh I also know he has banned at least 4 gballzack accounts which I helped him hunt down lol. 

And, since we are getting back on topic, it's kind of hard to argue that this review isn't at least somewhat jaded against the Wii.  How can an extra play mode be viewed as a bad thing, much less negatively affect the score.  How can the Wii version be worse than the PS2 version when it has better graphics, a better online system, extra modes, and (at least by other review site standards) a better control scheme?  I really don't understand how they validate that 4.5.  As was mentioned above they really need to find a reviewer who understands the Wii or they are going to alienate the largest user base and their site traffic will plummet... which, considering they are on the verge of bankruptcy, could be the final straw. 

I own SSX blur -- both myself and my fiancee played it for ~40 hours and loved it. IGN gave it an 8.4 because it is a very solid game and was a ton of fun.  You'd be insane to give it anything below a 7.

I don't think you have to be insane... I just think you have to have zero tolerance for motion controls.  That seems to be the case with all of 1UPs reviews, regardless of system (Lair anyone?).  I remember a 1UP show a while back where they spent half the show bitching about the motion controls in the Warhawk beta.  I played that beta on a friend's PS3, and although the learning curve was steep, the motion controls were very smoothly handled. 

Similarly, any game that makes heavy use of motion controls is criticized very harshly.  If you read their MP3 review, they constantly bitch about the motion control actions.  I have been playing for over 10 hours now (in fact I have the game on as I'm typing right now) and I can tell you that the game reads the motion controls very smoothly.  If you aren't ADHD and actually pay attention to what you are doing you shouldn't have any problems executing all motion commands effortlessly.  They gave Wii Sports a 6.5 because of the motion controls, despite it's industry average being a 7.7.  I think what they are against more than the Wii in specific is anything that changes their limited view of what gaming "should be."

OK last post, seriously. He warned Legend on an occasion when he had done absolutely nothing wrong, he had just speculated that Sony saw it's fans as sheep or something similiar. Can't remember the exact thread.

Actually, Legend was stating that he believed Sony adopters were mindless sheep. I think that deserves a warning.
