"The 360 has come a long way being the underdog at the very beginning of this console generation. No one thought microsoft would be doing this good back in 2005, but look at them now."

I was not aware the 360 was ever an underdog. MS has put so many resources into it and it was out way before the wii or ps3. Also third parties seem to like it best as well. 360 was never an underdog.

If you meant the original xbox then yes. MS has done a great job getting into a very hard market

The 360 was the underdog, because the original Xbox did not do very well. I think most people predicted it to be in third place at this point in time.

Kinda hard for it to be an underdog when it had no competitors for more than a year. Besides that I never people reaching a general consensus predicting it to be last. It started big and its tried to hold onto that. If anything people thought the other system would fail.

It was competing against the most succesful home console ever. Games like Final Fantasy XII, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War 2 or Okami were released for the ps2 with the X360 already in the market.

Shadow of Colossus, Okami? These are your examples? They did not sell well. Besides that the 360 was being given plenty of very high profile games and had a very different market. They easily stood out in the market because no other next gen console had come out. MS spent millions getting special deals with third parties.

In other words 360 was not an underdog but the rich kid down the street that you always knew was going to college because of his backround. Not to mention some great games came out.

Now you're just talking rubbish. I'd quit while you're way behind - and then if I was you I'd go back and read some industry analysis circa 2004-2006. And then you might understand why Microsoft was unambiguously an underdog coming in to this generation.

Could you cherrypick a little more please? In the same line where you found SotC and Okamis there's a mainline Final Fantasy and God of War 2, you know... the predecessor of the game which only needed a single trailer to send the sony section of the forum into overdrive?

Going against a 100M active userbase with some of the biggest games of the system still to be released isn't being the underdog? You can't get over your own biases, which that we know so far include both Microsoft/X360 and rich kids. Anyone else on your personal list of things to hate?

You really reading into my post way too literally. Mentioning Okami and SotC was just an aside. I totally agree there were big time games coming out on the PS2, that doesnt mean much of it ran into the 360 audience except with GOTY choices and such. You also took too literally the fact that I used an analogy and you turned it into some sort of insult. As for being "biased" toward the 360 thats total BS. Because I dont agree that the well funded 360 was underdog IM biased and I hate these groups? No and dont put words in my mouth.

What what what. Since when the 360 wasn't competing against the ps2? explain why. Just because they are different products you are saying they don't compete against each other? Hah, I guess Volkswagen will be happy to know Opel isn't taking any sales from them.

Running against the company and the brand that first pushed past the 100 million hardware units sold, that had won two generations in a row with a massive advantadge (specially the second time), a company backed by every developer and publisher out there... that's not being the under dog?

This whole industry was expecting the ps3 to win. From publishers, developers, journalists... everyone. Until that damned E3 2006.

No it was not directly competing with the PS2 esp when it had to do with  software sales. Im not saying there was zero competition but these products were fairly seperated for many reasons. Comparing anually released products to game consoles is another terrible example for you. Strike 2 for you. See that company(Sony) that had all those advantages never transfered all those merits to the next generation. The average consumer for the 360 is the casualcore. That type of consumer is not going to decide bewteen the PS2 and the 360 esp when it comes to games. 360 had the advantage of universally being known as more pwoerful and more functional than the other products of the time. PS2 audience was huge but it was also transferring over to the 360 audience. Not only that all those developers that went to Sony were now going to MS, remember the 50 million dollars exclusive GTA DLC for 360, remember how new finaly Fantasy is not a complete Sony exclusive anymore??? Or how about the huge marketing plans and guaranteed success of Gears of War. Not really the signs of an underdog.
