Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What is your impression of Baroque

I was thinking about getting Baroque.  I saw that it got an abysmal score on IGN, and I didn't find any other reviews on any other websites.  I read that it was somewhat unique, which is what I am looking for.  I am looking for impressions from people who have played the game enough to know what it is like.

It is a port of a Saturn game.

It is dank, dark, and difficult.

I got talked out of buying it by a Gamestop manager (whose judgment I trust).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I have it and it's very unusual. Unless you're into Rogue type Dungeon crawls I would steer clear. It is interesting, but very niche. It is fun in 1 hour bursts, but the item management and figuring out how to maximizing your character through strange items is somewhat demanding.

Almost forgot, don't even think about playing this if you don't have a classic controller. The camera will drive you nuts with the Wiimote control. With the classic controller you have complete control over the camera so it isn't an issue. I think that is part of the reason for the low scores it just wasn't designed for use with a single analogue stick at all.

I was wondering about this game.

I ended up not getting it. Got Eternal Darkness, Zack & Wiki and Sins of the Solar Empire. Not for the same price mind you, but Baroque was one of the games I was considering.
