Nintendo's updated release schedule casually mentions a Wii version of the age-old board game. In a news update released after LGC07, Nintendo of Europe mentions a certain Wii Chess title coming out this December in Europe. Not much is known about this game other than that it is being developed and published by Nintendo. Hopefully more information about Wii Chess will be released in the coming days.

Why is that pathetic? It wouldn't be the first Chess game released for a home console. And at least with the pointer it would actually be a functional game. If they make it a robust package with online, battle chess animation options and a good tutorial/cpu AI, it could be a pretty nice little game. Provided it's discount priced of course

I suppose if it's a 10€ download, or has really, really many cool extra features. Another possibility is that they're testing the waters again, checking if they can sell a game like this for 40-50. =/

I remember another chess game for a home console. It was a chess game for the N64, if memory serves, and it was god awful.

I just hope they do something more creative with the game than turning all the pieces into Miis.
