i wanna know what ps1 cost or what people thought it cost when it was released. after a week i will put up the actual price of the ps1 when it was released and it is from a buyers guide. back in 1994

I think it was about 400 - 450 dollars, don't really remember since i just got my PS1 late in 1997

same here, but I'm going to guess $350, as ever since sony came around people say that videogames follow the razor blade model.

It cost sony more than that to manufacture it. But they sold it at a loss at launch...a first for videogames. I know a lot of people claim sega sold systems at a loss before...but it isn't true. Genesis, sega CD and 32X were never sold initially at a loss.

The N64 was 2500 SEK, I should remember that...

And I think the Playstation was just around 3000 SEK. But I'm not at all sure of that. I remember that it was insanely impressive though. Wipeout for the win!

I think the ps1 cost au$800 but then quickly dropped to au$600.
