Forums - Gaming Discussion - Better to buy a console or a PC for gaming?

OMG WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Around the Network

I'd say the best would either be a combo.. Meaning both...
But if you only need it for gaming, you won't have to worry about reliability (let's face it. Pcs are fucking unreliable. Why is it doing that, NOONE KNOWS ! Why is my programs icons missing NOONE KNOWS ! XD damnit !) if you get a console.

Furthermore pc gaming is pretty hardcore with sitting with the keybord and the mouse (even if they do prove superior in some genres for accurate aim, yes i'm thinking fps) while with a console you can sit in the couch and chillax while gaming and not having to do all kind of crap beforehand.

oh yeah and i hate world of warcraft ! .. i do hope they make a warcraft 4 though.

If you have the $$ and dont mind the technical issues PC offers the smoothest and highest framerates ,highest resolutions ,lowest load times , an easy to use mouse which is superior for most FPS games and supports hundreds of other game peripherals like wheels, joysticks , pads, and more but mainly single player experience.

But for multiplayer Party games and total variety of experiences the Wii offers the best choice easy to setup and play and is intuitive and Fun.
The consoles like PS3 and X360 sort of act like low end PC with similar games and are mainly focussed on people who want a PS2 or Xbox with better graphics - most games are are single player FPS games. Mabey good if you really cant afford a PC , the PS3 is also good for blu-ray playing.

PS3 number 1 fan

1) All the problems that your PC has is your damn fault. You don't scratch your own car and say it isn't your fault, is it? PC never have problems when they're brand new, and it only starts to have problems when people install pirated software, go to the porns, etc... they don't take good care of their PC.

2) Reliability? Xbox 360 RROD, rofl

3) PC let's you play games chilling out on your sofa, it's your own decision if you want it so or not. For me, I'm currently laying down on my bed and I'll be playing the Ultimate Doom copy I got from Steam for $0.99 on my bed.

My updated current chumper is $450 and it comes almost pre-assembled.

  • AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz
  • 3gb ram
  • 320GB HDD
  • DVD/CD writer
  • Multicard reader
  • Windows Vista
  • HD 4670 (Must install yourself, extremely simple)

Thanks for remembering my past work but unfortunately those boxes are out of date.

If you're one of the 50%+ of people who want to buy a laptop then you're better off with a console or handheld most likely.

If you're not one of those 50% then you have to weigh the pros/cons of the different setups. PC gaming isn't trouble free, if you find installing a graphics card too intimidating I would say you should stick to consoles unless you have a specific reason not to.

Tease.

console just cuz u kno ull be able to play every game that comes out for it til that console gen is over

Still waiting on a New Road Rash and Legend of Dragoon 2...

Oh shut up.

1. lol do you have any idea what you are talking about ? i know your a huge pc fanboy but i know a lot of pcs too. Ofcourse it's all about what happens on your pc but you can't control all incomming and outgoing traffic (even with attempts such as firewalls) not to mention DRM and software installing shit on your pc. Pcs are unrealiable and i know this. It's a fact. I'm not saying they will crash and burn.. but they will crash, overload and crash. Blue screen of hell ? a ddl file missing so you have to reinstall windows ? etc. Dude don't always act like pcs are flawless. Yes a lot of the problems are caused by users but not all of them, and certainly not many of the fatal ones.

2. I wanted to tell he she should get the ps3 and she wouldn't have any reliability issues but i didn't want to come off as a fanboy.

3. Yeah it's really neat to lay on a bed with mouse and keyboard. Ofcourse you can always buy a controller but that defy's the point of a pc having a superior control scheme.
