Someone on another forum mentioned something interesting.
SSB was first released in Japan 21.1.1998 (1.21.1999 -> US style date), so maybe its like 10th anniversity. And NA (26.4.1999) + Europe (19.11.1999).
I hope not though, it would be kinda like Brawl, even worse (I'm European.)

I want older MK games on the VC too. SSB is a great game, but I have it for n64.

nintendo really could have had a major homerun with vc.

1. they could have added online multiplayer (shouldnt have been that hard -_-)

2. you could earns points from buying games(a small amount)

3. games should have been cheaper(esp first party ones)

I haven't got my Wii online, but had always imagined SSB was already available on the Virtual Console. This is just unbeliveably slow. Were they worried it would hurt the sales of Bral or something?

No I don't think so, if not, they wouldnt be releasing Pikmin 1 and 2 before the new game. It's just that they don't wanna use all their tricks all at once. It would be nice to get some first party love in the Americas, it's been a very very very long time since we got anything.
