Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii avalibility...

Wii availability seems to drop back down almost every Monday. Like shoppers have generally learned that systems get stocked on Sundays. So we'll see what it looks like tomorrow. 15% after 3+ months and 2 million units sold isn't too shabby. Wii may be on pace to do 7 million LTD in NA by year end. Or more. Falling below 400,000 a month for most of its first full year would not be breaking with the PS2, which ended 2001 with 8 million sold.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

guys... all I say is it's up to 15%. and DIE KWAAD!!! WELCOME TO YOUR WORLD KWAAD. Holy crap. I'm basically saying. Hey for you people who dont have one. Go get one while their there. My question is will it go back down? Idunno. it's been going up slowly over the last few days. and the Knoxville area hasnt seen a wii on itrackr in 2 or 3 weeks. (they show up I'm sure, but last like 30 mintues) It's all dependant on your area. Also. Rember the PS3 was RARE... and then 1 day... it was in every store in the country, and no-one would buy them.

I agree that people shouldn't be posting messages like "Die Kwaad". There's no good reason for this; it's not helping anyone's argument, and adds an unfriendly element to the debate. That being said, you do put every bit of Wii news in the worst light possible for Nintendo, and the best light for Sony. Even if the news has nothing to do with Sony, it creeps into your posts. You should expect that a number of people are going to disagree with you. I'd guess that you are counting on it. As for the availability, I imagine the 15% is going to go back down. Erik has it pretty much dead on, by Monday the availability has been shrinking rapidly. We have enough data that the pattern is fairly clear. We'll know for certain in the next few days. Incidentally, I wonder where the unsold consoles are? Perhaps they could redirect some of them to this area?

I'd rather wait for the NPD numbers that will hopefully come this Thursday. :)

How reliable is the itracker site anyway? In my area they say the Playstation 3 is not in stock at the target less than a mile from my house, yet I was there a hour or so ago with my son and they had 4 in the display case and 8 in the back. Sales rep said they have been there for a few weeks now. I don't think that you can objectively base an argument about the availability of either the wii or ps3 on the information provided by itracker. They maybe able to give you an idea about availability but the level of accuracy is something to be questioned.

For sure. A better representation is having a few of the forum members here from different POPULATED areas check out each store on a tri-daily/weekly basis. I can tell people right now that Wii's in my area sellout within four hours (Due to the size of the city and that it's a retirement community) and that PS3's shit on shelves for weeks. Well actually, they didn't get any PS3's up here except on launch when they only got two or three, and they maybe got one shipment before the last shipment two fridays ago. Two fridays ago, they received 3 PS3's. Guess how many are still there today?

Or we could all stop basing arguments on anecdotal evidence and just wait a week to see what the real numbers are. Just sayin.

2004 Lincoln LSV8 - ~$15,000

K&N Cold Air Intake - $300

Handheld ECU Reprogrammer - $400

The look on a ricer's face when they get their ass beat off the line by a Lincoln - Priceless

I dunno, Wii's are still hard to find. PS3's are only easy to find because of the Price no one wants a 600 dallor console. There was a pole recently that had Consoles and Portables that said "What console would you buy if the Wii was 200, Xbox360 was 300, and the PS3 was 400?" Over 60% said PS3 "What Handheld would you buy if the DS and PSP were 100 bucks?" 49% said PSP 51% said DS

True, but then we'd be discussing sales and not availability. Sales are hopefully another thread.

Basically all I am saying is that look. This site says 15% avaiable. Hell. I was at wal-mart. They had 1 PS3. No Wii's. But then agian. I wonder what's gonna happen when the market finally surpasses demand, you have your 10,000 units owned by scalpers trying to get rid of them. So the sales will then drop at least 10,000 because of them. Thus allowing 10,000 units to sit on shelves... and becuase of that they look like no-one cares, and the hype is gone.
