Firmware 3.0 changes:

Wii Channels/Misc

- The Wii now identifies itself to routers, where as before only the MAC address and or IP address were displayed; if at all (pointed out first by ddobson)
- News and Forecast Channel icons changed
- Digital Clock added to the Wii Menu right under the channel bar
- Forecast Channel now displays the current condition directly in the Wii Menu in the Forecast Channel box
- News Channel can now show 2 scrolling headlines at a time in the Wii Menu, 3 when you click on the button
- Message Board now has the "Today's Accomplishments" message as a white message which allows it to stand out from other messages
- Address Book entries can now be shifted around using A+B.
- Calendar in Message Board no longer shows "Today's Accomplishment"
- Scrolling messages in the Message Board now uses a different sound
- Disc slot glows blue briefly when a disc is inserted or ejected
- Support for USB keyboards has also been added

Wii Shop Channel

- New Welcome screen detailing 4 Recommended Titles and the points they cost. The title bar can be clicked on to bring up a list of 20 recommended games.
- Titles You've Downloaded was moved to the main shop menu
- New ways to browse
- Popular Titles
- Newest Additions remains the same
- Search for a title using partial names
- Search by Category
- Search by Publisher
- Search by Genre
- System shows the different game systems and how many titles have been released under each

I was suspicious that Ninty were updating a bunch of stuff, and would dump the entire update all at once. Can't wait to get home now :)

All in all, a nice update, but little more than that. I got especially excited when I logged into the Wii Shop channel and it had "Gameplay Videos" listed. When I clicked the link it said to go to wii.nintendo.com for the gameplay videos which is, to say the least, disappointing.

Cest la vie, I suppose. Happy to see an update. Ironic (and this was pointed out on another forum) that it comes out the same day as the Xbox's price cut.

*My WII is updating*... *takes veeeeeery long* longer than usual. Mine was on 2.2, so perhaps I've missed a few updates.

huge. Some of those features are fantastic. I would LOVE it, though, if you could put today's forecast right on the screen rather than current weather. I know what it's like outside, I don't need me Wii to tell me (and it's usually hours late anyway)

I like the updates to the Wii shop channel, I was wondering when that would happen as the number of titles were starting to get way too big for the previous interface.

-Digital Clock added to the Wii Menu right under the channel bar = check, it's there

-Forecast Channel now displays the current condition (cloudy, raining, etc.) directly in the Wii Menu in the Forecast Channel box = yep also there

-News Channel can now show 2 scrolling headlines at a time in the Wii Menu, 3 when you click on the button = check!!

-Message Board now has the "Today's Accomplishments" message as a white message which allows it to stand out from other messages = confirmed

-Address Book entries can now be shifted around using A+B (supposed to be a launch feature) but only to empty spaces. Not too convenient. = finally! And works! Oh and another thing... the page with your WII code stands still and doesn't shift away as soon as you open the friends list...

-Calendar in Message Board no longer shows "Today's Accomplishment" only days as having messages = True, never visisted the calendar really :=/.

That's for the WII menu have to check the shopping channel, will do that in a few minutes....
