Valve released its retail sales numbers on last month EGM (so I presume they're up to september 30 2008).
these are the numbers:
Valve ha pubblicato le vendite retail dei suoi giochi al 30 Settembre 2008.
Queste le cifre:
Half-Life (Valve) / 1998 - 9.3 Million
Half-Life: Opposing Force (PC, Gearbox) / 1999 - 1.1 Million
Half-Life: Blue Shift (PC, Gearbox) / 2001 - 800,000
Counter-Strike (PC, Valve) / 2000 - 4.2 Million
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero (PC, Valve) / 2004 - 2.9 Million
Counter Strike: Source (PC, Valve) / 2006 - 2.1 Million
Counter-Strike (Xbox, Valve) / 2003 - 1.5 Million
Half-Life 2 (Valve) / 2004 - 6.5 Million
Half-Life 2: Episode One (PC, Valve) / 2006 - 1.4 Million
The Orange Box (Valve) / 2007 - 3 Million
(Half-Life 2 HL2: Episode One, HL2: Episode Two, Portal, Team Fortress 2)
Total: 32.,8 milions
Notes
1) Steam sales not included
2) PC games have long legs. HL2 was 1.7 millions at the end of 2004, 4 million at the end of 2005,. It means it has sold other 2.5 millions when it was 2-3 years old.
3) if OB has the same longevity as HL2, it will pass 5 millions in 2 years
4) of course, every year Steam sales are a bigger part of Valve revenues. After all, Steam had 3-4 million users in 2004 and it has more than 16 millions active users now. L4D preorders on Steam more than doubled OB preorders.
