@ twesterm: You can easily check the total number of trophies you have by opening your profile within your PSN friends list.

Edit: Whoops, bit slow with my response...

Yeah, but like I said, they sill aren't immediately visible to you like Gamerscore is.

No matter where I am in the XBox blades (well, just about everywhere) I always see my Gamerscore and to see it in game it involves a single button press.

My trophies are never immediately visible and I have to look in an unintuitive spot to find them.

So after playing Dead Space a little on the PS3 I realized another reason why I prefer Gamerscore to trophies: your Gamerscore is actually visible.

I have no clue how many trophies I have. I have to go find the menu option, wait for it to load, and then look through each game to see my trophies. With achievements it's always right there in the same spot in easy view.

As much as an achievement/trophy whore I am, I could see myself easily forgetting about trophies because they just aren't visible.

Playstation button, move left stick up, hit x and there you are, all your trophies listed, no loading time or wait on any of those operations, no need to leave the game...

I admit its been a good month since I looked at my trophies, but last time I looked at them it took a good 3-5 seconds to actually see them.

Also, that still doesn't solve the problem of they just aren't visible.

To view my Gamerscore:

  • Turn on XBox 360
  • View any tab
  • Press the XBox button on the controller during game.

All pretty simple and involve no extra steps.

To view my trophies:

  • Press the PS button, move left stick up, press x.

Not simple and not always visible.

That's where you fail ! My PS3 has been turned on for 13 months !

PS : There's no delay if you do this from within a game.

There's no delay if you do this from outside a game as it tries to synchronize with online trophy repository...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Achievements.

A girlfriend. WIN THAT ONE FANBOYS.

Dun dun dun.

I'm more into achievements at the moment, but those trophies are growing on me. I think the main thing is that they're still fairly new. A lot of people are still getting used to having them. It's really easy to see your trophies, I'm playing Resistance 2 right now. When I want to see what a trophy is for I just look in the trophy section. It doesn't even kick you from the game. Overall I think they're both good. I'll be into trophies a bit more since I got LBP and Resistance 2.

~Currently Playing Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank: FTOD, and Resistance: Retribution~

A gaming girlfriend?

Eitherway, I don't like either. I don't I don't understand why they are needed or what purpose other then boasting they can help you achieve.

Hmm, pie.

For a more accurate reflection of your true gaming prowess i reccomend that 360 owners register to a site called true achievements (google it)

The site has really been picking up steam lately and more and more people are registering by the hour, its fantastic.

Basically if you got 1000 for Fight night round 3 the site would give you an overall score of like 1200 for that game, But if you got 1000 on virtua fighter 5 it gives you around 2800 therefore awarding players with higher scores for doing well on tougher games.
