Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 2 to 3 years before Nintendo releases a new core title.

‘Nintendo has never lost its passion for core gamers. Nintendo would like to bring smiles to as many different faces and produce games which appeal to mainstream and gaming audiences worldwide. We have never neglected our core gamers. We still have developers working on popular core gaming franchises but we need longer to complete these games, approximately two to three years. These games are not ready to launch in early 2009 but are being worked on by all development teams. Recently launched popular Nintendo gaming franchises have included Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart for Wii. Wario Land Shake Dimension, a true return to the classic 2D platform adventure, will be available for Wii in September of this year. There is also a vast array of third-party core gaming titles available for the Wii console’.

- Nintendo statement

There are a bunch of core third party games in development.

Should Nintendo use the initiative to publish some third party games, like Conduit?

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

They didn't start making them last week...

Lol, they worded it incorrectly I guess and I hope.

They meant that core games take up to 2 = 3 years to finish their completion, and seeing that their last core games were released in 2007, and that no team other than the casual one has announced anything, it-s safe to assume Nintendo is working on at least several core games. What-s true though is that they need to announce them at least 6 months before release, not 1 day before :)

What could the 20+ dev teams be doing besides Wii: Sports Resort, AC:CF and Wii Music (Those are made by only 1 team) ???

Only Nintendo will know until theres a month prior to their release.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

One thing I hear a lot is ' Nintendo is making a lot of money' 'Nintendo profits are incredible'. It makes me wonder what they are doing with it. They should buy some companies or made some temporary contracts like Microsft with Sakaguchi. But I guess that is a waste of money for them.

Well, this show one interesting scenary, third parties can push great titles the next year without fearing the great ninty titles, and Ninento is not rushing anymore their games which may end up on better games with more content...

The chance is there...
