People who were willing to pay $500 but not $600 for a PS3 would have probably bought the 20GB model which was discountiuned because of "low demand." For the most part the difference between $500 and $600 is too small to make much of a difference

I didn't even pay $299 for a PS2 when it came out, I waited until it was $179 I believe. A price drop from $600 to $500 basically says to me, "OK, we aren't being QUITE so ridiculous with the price now..."

It does look like this is the supposed "BIG" price drop that we all thought would happen this year...although it's not quite big enough.

Seeing as the 20Gb model was $499 and people still didn't really buy them...I reckon making the price now $499 won't really do much for sales.

I reckon, they need to bundle a game with them....what about Motorstorm or Resistance as a freebie along with a nice BluRay DVD as well all for $499...then maybe you will catch a few more buys.

Nope! Perhaps next year. I don't bother much about the high price point of the console, for someone who buys 5 games a month. The price of the games is a bigger issue though...

Better buy one when there's a game that I absolutely want to play... otherwise it will gather dust and eat away a year from the warranty on it before the big games are coming out!

Not surprising all VGChartz members are saying no... The price cut isn't happening anyway according to Sony. With the way it sounds you'd (the haters, you know who you are) give a thief that stole a million dollars the death penalty even if he was truely sorry and gave a charity 2 million!

My girlfriend wants a PS3 for Tomb Raider 8, KH3, and RE5, and she's recruited me to be the one to buy it for her.

Hopefully I can talk her out of it (and get her a 360), but if I can't, the idea of a $100 PS3 pricecut sounds good.

Mrstickball, it's not "even" sure that KH3 will head to the PS3 ;). Most likely will though.

Oh by the way speaking of Star Ocean IV before... look what I saw on Gamefaqs... PS2?? To me that would be great, Tri Ace has their games in progressive scans, and no need of buying a PS3 then :D PS2 vs WII, not very far from each other ey... Oh well... dream on...
