Well, at least I can buy my 360 this year without beeing "forced" to buy those Wii points cards all the time...

Forced to buy Wii point cards?  You can buy them with a credit card.  Microsoft points are better somehow?

Edit: ZZetaAlec beat me to it, heh

Nintendo srsly needs to do a firmware update to allow SD cards, thumb drives, and external USB hard drives to be compatible as expandable memory.

Now that WiiWare is under way, and they've got well over 100 VC games released, there's going to be a LOT of people quickly filling their 512 mB of space. I WANT TO STORE STUFF ON MY STINKIN' SD CARD AND STILL BE ABLE TO PLAY IT WHILE IT'S ON THERE, NINTENDO, DANGIT!

Ninty could still even release special "made-for-Wii" external hard drives that hold 5, 10, or 20 gigs (be nice if they also released a DVD-player (even better, why not also go HD-DVD to actually compete with Sony? Heh), or had DVD players released with built-in additional flash memory of like 1gig. Try cutting back on the thousand different peripherals concept that is a proven system killer).

They also need to introduce a new way to organize your Home menu. Like, a directory concept. Have a new, small button on the home screen (top right corner mebbe?) that is solely for Home menu customization. Maybe have the ability to set colour schemes, and put in new directories (folders for you modern Windows folks) where you can group your Home menu items on your own.

I'd rather appreciate being able to have one folder in which I'd store all my Internet channels (Shop Channel, Internet Channel, Everybody Votes! Channel, Forecast Channel, News Channel), then another folder for my NES VC games, SNES VC games, etc.

It'd be amazingly sleek, versatile, and appreciated. No more filling up all 48 spaces and being forced to transfer some to an SD card. Hallelujah!

Early next year? Geez get with the program Nintendo.

And the sending demos to the DS capability is already in place, just not being used. Geometry Wars on Wii will send the Retro Evolved XBLA version to your DS to play, demo-style.

I think they're intentionally holding back on completed features 'cause they're already selling out so want to build up some hype later on with them.

I personally use the four pages to separate the different categories.  Right now I have the first page as all my VC Games, the second for miscellaneous channels, and the fourth for 'I'm not sure why I bought this' games, heh.

And, do you REALLY need to be able to play more than a max of 47 VC games at a time?  (minus the disc channel and various other channels you may have).  If you get an SD card, you get PLENTY of room to get all the games you want.  You just have to do a little memory management.  I don't see the problem really, that you can have dozens of games avaliable at a time.

I know the capability is in place, but I think they should have a channel dedicated to DS Demos

My question is will this be available to the general public (ie I can program my own games and submit them to Nintendo) or will it only be available to development studios?

So Nintendo's "XBLA" will be called WiiWare - sort of lame name IMO.

Here's hoping we see a lot more of this in the future.

...

(so is this the name of a "developer" program, or the distribution system? or both?)

Now they just need to announce a publically available SDK... for PCs - and preferably for the Wii as well ;) If they release a decent development "package" for the Wii (coupled with a keyboard) it could be a huge hit. It would be nice...

Welcome to early May, last year.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Honestly, how likely does that sound?
