Has anyone else noticed the sales in America. MGS4 hasnt even been out for 2 weeks and PS3 sales in america are less than the 360 last week. In fact PS3 sales in general WW are poor in MGS4's 2nd week. M$ has an amazing 2nd half of 2008 lineup, and I believe Sony will and should be worried. Sony stand to lose any ground they made up over the last 6-7 months and lose some more. What do you think? Are you surprised with the PS3 sales in MGS4's 2nd week?

For a game that is like MGS4, complicated storyline and subtle but fierce stealth action with puzzling boss fights and fantastic fight scenes, its a fan game. This game appeals to fans, and fans only. Well I am sure some jumped on the bandwagon because of the hype and like it. I am just gonna say, if a game as MGS4, a game that appeals mostly to a certain audience, scaled the ps3 sales up a notch, for two weeks, i can educationally assume what other games can do bette, for double the amount especially if they are more focused to a broader amount of buyers.

Sony doesn't need to be worried about microsofts "amazing lineup for 2008," because it's still not in the murky water of release date. I think Socom Confrontation will fair up this fall, releases this september, 32 player online. Resistance 2 looks promising, and i just played Resistance 1, and although its old, its pretty fun(people still play it online, FFA deathmatches at least) so i can say Resistance 2 will be better. Both of these games are shooters, and they appeal to a broader audience than MGS4 (awesomeness), so sony won't have to worry. Well those are the two games i'm looking forward to ayways.

Shouldn't this be under sales discussion and not Microsoft? On Topic: well I think its kinda bad, not as bad as u make it seem, yes MGS4 dropped kinda fast, but its still going to sell alot more. Of course it would be hard to keep up wit SW sales in America, the 360 has more than double the installed base. Why not make a topic saying how Microsoft is losing in SW in Others, where there is a much closer installed base (even b4 MGS4 launched). Too much PS3 gloom and doom talk for no reason IMO.

I'm not really surprised at the sales. I knew MGS4 was targeting the hardcore fans of the series; people who upon it's release would buy the game if they already owned a PS3 or both a PS3 and the game if they didn't. For a short while after MGS4's release, PS3 saw a major boost in sales, over 180% according to VG Chartz, which, obviously, is substantial. As for anybody and everybody saying PS3 is doing "bad", take a look at hardware sales November '07-present (without cumulative sales). Xbox360 has rarely sold faster than PS3.

I think it is fair to say that MGS4 had a TINY effect compared to what Sony fans were hoping for.

I think this holiday in the USA will be VERY important for Microsoft and the future of this console war.

Yes VERY important since they keep getting outsold every time vgchartz updates, been always ending up in last place WW total hardware sales, since the beginning of the year :P
