Forums - Gaming Discussion - More advanced Wii remote for all consoles?

Gametrak Freedom
Gametrak Freedom (formerly codenamed 'Fusion') is a brand-new control system for next-generation games systems....the most advanced motion gaming system ever created!

Unlike existing products and technologies, In2Games’ Fusion system does not rely upon the gamer pointing a controller at the screen or restrict the gamer to limited movements. Instead, it combines patent-pending ultrasonic and RF technologies with 3-axis accelerometers to track the precise absolute position and orientation in 3D space of almost any wireless accessory such as golf clubs, baseball bats, tennis racquets, and bowling balls.

Freedom will launch in 2008, with a wide range of games for next-generation platforms.

More announcements on this exciting technology will follow in the coming months.

Could this be something that would work on the videogame market of today?

Now the world is weird  and people take Prozac  to make it normal.

surely it means for 'this generation' consoles not next generation, unless it is launching before the next generation of consoles is released.

lol? This is the third company that comment on the Wiimote but don't even know how it works... and ultrasonic? Wtf? so it pings your room to find it's position?

w/e what games work with this?

Sadly no... Without massive support from Nintendo, Sony and MS this will only have very subpar games developed by In2Games themselves. That will prevent it from gaining any kind of installed base, preventing any 3rd party developer from bothering to support it, which in turn prevents it from getting any kind of installed base...

Sony and MS will have enough trouble getting their own (rumoured) motion sensitive devices to catch on.

From what it says it sounds like you have to buy special accessories for everything.... unless it means it can track real golf clubs etc in which case it's rather dangerous.

Just another rip off. No matter how many of these there are there will only be one this gen. It is the Wiimote and that is it. Next gen I can bet there will be another console with a wiimote type system.

in2games have been makign this sort of stuff for along time (long before the Wii came out).

I was going to get the golfing game a long time ago. However I read reports that it wasn't very good so I never bothered.

Likely hood is high that they'll never get more then mediocre sales with their games.

god this sound like a bad idea, sound should not be a usably tool--i can feel the head aches coming already and the cats and dogs running for cover

Damn.Should've got more third party support.
