The retail version will be 720p. (maybe not "natively") But these native resolution tests are really just a bunch of shit. Its so silly.
Has the Beyond3D resolution testing always existed?
Have they always been around this entire gen?

It seems to me, the whole native resolution crap has only peered its ugly face since Halo 3.

I disagree - there's a visible difference (at least for me) between psuedo-HD games and games that really do run in 1280x720.

That's not to say that it will be a bad game though. It just shows that Sony & MS over-promised with regards to what their consoles would be.

Really? I'm not saying you're lying or anything, but it's the first time I hear anyone saying that. What games did you notice that on?

Also, what TV to you have and at what distance do you sit from it?

Most recently, Haze. It looked really low rez compared to my other games (Resistance, 720p; Sigma, 960x1080 (fake 1080p); Stardust HD, 720p). I have a 1080p 42" display; I sit about 6-7 feet away from it.  I also PC game on it, so I'm used to seeing what different degrees of resolution look like on it.

Also: That is a really poor shot of Sigma.  Even so it does not match NG2's visuals though.

360 is doomed! The world is going to implode!

Yes

People who compare this to NGS i have news for you.

Did you know NGS is mostly a port of an Xbox original game?

Yes.

However that *screenshot* of NG2 doesn't look in game to me. If you look at the screenshots in the beyond3d forum the image is much much less crisp and detailed.

Yes

I can't wait to Starcraft talks about this.

Around the Network

check it out.

Still want to compare NGS to NG2?

please starcraft enlighten us with a spin,

I am not gonna make the same comment you made starcraft about Haze ,but it's funny after all those claims this is what you get

OT:who freaking caressss ?the game has other issues that are more important than this,,,,camera,framerate,etc... but it's a great game anyways,,,if you enjoyed ninja gaiden you ll enjoy this aswell.

@Toasty

I didnt realise the graphics evolved that much! Its making Friday all the more harder to wait for.

Ninja Gaiden 2 not so HD

Beyond3D does the maths.
The Ninja Gaiden 2 demo has been released on the Japanese Xbox 360 Marketplace, and like clockwork has brought out the technical gurus to analyse the game's 'native' resolution.

According to Beyond3D, Ninja Gaiden 2 runs at a resolution of only 1120x585, or 585p. While right now this figure is only for the demo, major factors like rendering resolution rarely change between demo and retail game - for example, the Haze demo's resolution of 576p ended up being the same as in the final game. The way these games get away with it is that they're 'up-scaled' by the machine post-rendering to whatever the console is set at, much like an up-scaling DVD player does with an SD video image.

Whatever the pixel count, Ninja Gaiden 2 will be released in the coming weeks and you can expect a review from PALGN shortly after release.

sorry if this article has been posted before, i looked in the forums and couldnt find it!

do you think the retail game will have 585p resolution or 720p. this will be a good game though, but im wondering why they could not use a base like sigma and improve on it.

Look at my videos, they did improve it...

That NG2 pumpkin head posted looks like a bullshot. Either way, NG2 is more detailed than NGS regardless of the lower resolution. IMO, resolution is really the last thing devs should care about, and it's good to see that some devs thinks the same. Though it is strange that devs like Insomniac, Epic and Naughty dog could make such look looking games while still keeping it native @ 720p without straining the framerates... i guess some companies are just better at coding.

and BTW: b3d forums always end up being right about their pixel count, but who REALLY cares if the game is sub 720p or not? I think the majority of people that degrades a game or console if a game isn't 720p are fanboys and tools of marketing.
