How the hell Sony will ship more PS3 in 1 year than they did in 2? Nintendo can barely do it with their "last gen crappy low tech" console. What Sony would do to build their uber next gen machine faster than any console before? Let`s not even talk about the fact that last generation almost all consoles were bought under U$ 200. If Sony could make that many PS3 and sell them under 200, they would go out of business. Crazy shit all around. Random fanboys on gamefaqs forums could be better analysts.

I see Wii as the new Entertainment System, just like a DVD player has many types of movies and TV-series to buy and is easy to use, Wii is the same with games. A true Entertainment System is for everyone, and it will sell much and to all kinds of people.

At best it will be like PSP and DS in Japan, PS3 might match or succeed Wii in sales many times in the future, but not by much margin and it will never pass Wii at a strong lead.

I wonder, can any console really sell up to 100 000 000 this generation?

 Actually the PS3 brings everything to the table.. if you are willing to pay attention to it.

Even the impossible things are probably possible through obscure means by Linux. (Mario, Halo)

But I agree this CNET projection is bold to say the least.

 Wii is far outpacing the PS and PS2, both sold over 100 million, so I don't see why Wii won't.

the main reason they believe PS3 will do so well is that by that time, PS3s will be affordable for everyone and they are expected to BOOM!!! If they want this to happen, they need to happen, more good games need to come out for the PS3. They got potential, its just up to them to make it happen. I would rather have PS3 win than the Wii because if they win, Videogaming itself won't collaspe.

 Video gaming will come closer to collapsing if PS3 wins due to its budget model for consoles and games.    However, neither winning will realy bring about any collapse in video games.  Don't fall for foolish tabloid trash regarding the future of the industry.
