No, they enthusicastically "borrowed" Gyration's motion sensing patents as did MSFT. Why come up with something when u can buy it from another company? MSFT newton vs Nintendo Wii mote debates are making me sick... LOL

Nintendo was the one who put it to use on a worldwide audience. They strayed away from the general analog controllers first, now MS is following suit.

You will get flamed to hell due to your username, but you are correct.
Nintendo didn't invent motion sensor technology, much like how it doesn't invent alot of the hardware it uses (it innovates in games though).
Making it mainstream =/= inventing.
So while it deserves praise for being different and providing something its competitors don't, it doesn't deserve to be a called a hardware innovator.
How many mainstream console have used Motion as one of the main control schemes? (Not counting add ons, or unreleased stuff?)
Wii
They innovated, just as they always have.
Using an existing tool to make something which was never done before is still innovation, unless you're really pedantic.
Engines existed before cars, but that doesn't mean cars weren't innovative.

@Op quit trolling on the Wii and go and play Halo 3.
They didn't invent the tech, but they found innovative ways to use it. How many video game products can you think of that are like the Wii? I've landed on 0.
Arkimedes wasn't a great philosopher at all! Everything he did was work further on the ideas of Platon! What a scam!

I think you're thinking of Aristotle and Plato. Archimedes was a Greek inventor and mathematician unrelated to those two. :)
Also, lol @ a Halo fanboy complaining about lack of innovation.
"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

inventing and innovating are two different words. Try reading a dictionary.
