If Nintendo made a HD Wii in a couple years, would the standard def Wii play the same game discs as the HD Wii just not in high-def, or would they just sale two different copies of the games? Thanks in advance!

Two things. The way the games work, a game built for 720p will require ALMOST as much power to run at 480i. So no it wouldnt be the same game. Could they put 2 games on 1 disc? Yes. Would nintendo most likely put it on a BluRay. Yes, as I see games in the next 3 years quickly hitting 20-40gb. (a few games already run over 5gb) I personally would HATE buying a game that comes in a spindle of 5 DVDs. rofl. As a rule of thumb, I import alot of my PC games because the european version is 5$ cheaper, and comes on a DVD vs. CD. So to summarize your answer. No and No. :)

I bet that within 4 years we will see a WiiHD. Why? Because by then HD tv sets will be a larger market share. It will be completely backward compatible and if you are using HD cables it will upconvert the signal just like many DVD players do now. The newer HD games would be compatible with both versions, and like the 360 now, it will remain on dvd's. They have no need to put a game on a blu-ray or HDDVD as a double layer DVD (about 9g) is more than large enough. Great market plan I think. Look at the DS, 2years out they put out a version that is 90% the same. Same price and I would say that majority of the original DS owners bought the DS Lite. Same with the Wii. 4 years into it they bring out WiiHD, same price $250 but with HD graphics and same shape and size. Again, most current Wii owners will rebuy.

I think DS lite feels funny, and makes my hands sweat. I'm a proud owner of DS. not DS lite. Makes me mad the DS lite has a better sceen tho. and yeah in 4-6 years. Definatly see one comming. But I dont see support for the Wii. So New Version. no. New console. Yes. It's the way the market works.
