is the next xbox going to be more powerful than a pc with a 1080 and an 8th gen 6 core i7?

Apparently, there is a second new studio, but MS didnt announce it at the presser. It's a new studio specifically made for Age of Empires.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

MS will never announce a new AAA console exclusive IP from its studios. It's Gears, Forza, and Halo from now until the end of time. -_-

MS: We bought a bunch of new studios. Also, we'll be talking about XB2.

Me: Guess I better watch that E3 Conference then.

MS: Gears, Forza, Halo. Scarlett will be really powerful, and have an SSD.

Me: -_-

They've only owned those new studios a year, what do you expect? It takes alot more than a year to build a AAA game. We already know the Initiative is working on a new AAA IP, and Playground's RPG studio is working on a AAA as well. Technically The Outer Worlds from Obsidian is AAA and MS owns the IP now. The first game in the series is multiplat because MS bought them after Obsidian had made a deal with Take-Two, but future games in the series will be Xbox exclusive, so technically that is a new AAA IP for MS assuming it sells well enough to get sequels.

Outer Worlds isn't exclusive though. Not even console exclusive. Outer Worlds 2 being only on PC/Xbox would help a lot. But that's not an IP MS grew. I'd really like to see them take their new studios and make something new. Even an announcement with just a title screen, and no trailer would have been fine. Bayo 3 and Metroid Prime 4 got announced last year, but neither will be out until 2nd half of 2020 at the earliest. They could have brought each head of their new studios onstage and asked them what games they wanted to make. Anything.

I don't even know what new studios they picked up. It was supposed to be 14, but all I know of so far is Ninja Theory (regulated to making a melee Fortnite game), Obsidian, and Doublefine.

Makes me think AoE4 development hasn't been going very well with Relic at the helm... might not see that game for a while.

According to leaked specs, it will top the 1080 on GPU performance by a fairly significant margin. As for the CPU, an 8 core Zen 2 is not a match for an 8th gen 6 core i7 as far as I know, it's more on par with an 8th gen i5 I think, in games.

lol well the CPU is some consolation at least, not going to be upgrading for a bit

Zen2 can mean 7nm Ryzen. The ones seen in the 3700x/3800x. Which can easily compete with an 8th gen i7.

Regarding a 1080, absolutely. Scarlett's custom Navi should clear that with ease, in fact. As for the CPU, considering we're talking a custom Ryzen 2 here, it should be able to compete with the high-end, mainstream i7s. It's going to be a monstrous home console.

so we're looking at $500 consoles again?

The new Ryzen 3700x & 3800x should both outperform an i7-8700. Zen 2 is a big leap for AMD cpu's.

Nah, it should be able to compete with higher end procs than mainstream i5s. Probably won't surpass the best i7s, but the 3-4000K range procs? Shouldn't be too hard.

If it is using a 7nm Zen 2 then it can more than enough do it. Ryzen 3xxx is based off Zen 2 still. Just 7mm. I think that is lost in this. Zen 2 7nm competes in IPC with the 8th gen intels for sure.

Ryzen 3xxx =/= Zen3.

I think PS5 will be $499 and I think Xbox will be too.

If Xbox do have 2 different spec machines as rumoured though I'd expect low power to be $399 and premium one to be $599.
