Forums - Gaming Discussion - God of War Exhaustive (100%, 150+ hours) Review (MILD SPOILERS)

For contex, I have a platinum, played on give me gow twice, about 80 or so hours on total counting both runs.

The game does not have a lack of enemy variety problem, it has a lack of boss variety, it has a bazillion different normal enemy types tough: fast draugirs, heavy draugirs, long range draugirs and the flame sword draugirs are different enemies, and then you have hellwalkers, ogres, revenants (3 different types of them), travelers (3 different variations of them), wolvens, wolfs, those anoying lizard like creatures, night elves (3 different kinds of them), nightmares, those lanter bearing hellwalkers  and theres probably more stuff Im forgetting. Theres also a couple of execution animations per enemy (yes the executioners cleave does count).

And the story of this game is the way it is on purpose, the story is literaly about the journey not the destination, its meant to be a character study, therefore the overall story is just a means to an end (it still has some nice twists and turns and set up a lot of interesting things to come). 30% finishing rate is above average for a game, ususaly only around 20% of ppl finish a game. I do agree they make you backtrack a little too much tough and throw one or two unecessary McGuffins your way when you are nearing the end of the journey.

Having many kinds of the same monster doesn't mean variety to me. For 10/10, you'd expect more. Other games have way more. You don't have to look far.

I'm going to make this short. I don't agree with your negative nitpicks, but I do agree with your positives.

10 of the same troll reskinned? Same enemies over  and over? same executions? Dumbed down puzzles? I'm sorry but these are so obviously true. You can't deny that these are problems.

If these were in a different game, I bet you would complain about them.h

Honestly, I think you are on the minority on this.I didnt mind one bit, and actually through enjoyed every single negative you listed. The puzzles could have been more complex, but thats about it.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I think it is not possible for one single game to  be perfect in all aspects and to meet all personal preferences of millions of players. But fior me, GoW 4 comes out as best overall game experience I have played so far, and therefore desrves the highest score. But games evolve and surely there will be a game that exceeds GoW eventually.

I think GOW is a amazing game, but the story is way too complicated and all over the place.

How so?

It's a pretty straight forward tale.

Maybe i'm not paying attention but they had a key made, and flipping over a temple, and traveling to the temple of realms, i have no idea why. my favorite part about the game is the combat feels like a way more polished version of bloodborne. Story wise last of us is on another level for me.

I don't see a reason to make 100% on Give me God of War and them play on the lesser difficults, but ok =p
