Japan has joined Nigeria as the team to make the Round of 16 the most times to never reach the quarterfinals (3 each).

Tomorrow:

Sweden 0-2 Switzerland
Colombia 1-2 England

Mexico's Round of 16 curse strikes again. Mexico are a decent football nation but they rarely get beyond the Round of 16. Brazil's yellow wall is holding up nicely with only 1 goal conceded from their 4 matches. Mexico's relentless fouling of Neymar and other Brazil players to slow up Brazil's momentum was unsporting and disgraceful.

Yeah it was pretty good, but Japan has most of the fault for that goal even happening, you can't go all out and try to win the match through a corner when the other team is way taller than you, with 20 seconds left before overtime.

Japan was clearly running on fumes since minute 70, there was no way in hell they'd survive the 30m extra time, so they made the right call to try to win it there and then and lost out

I think the same thing happens to Mexico too. I hope one day they advance, because they are a passionate football nation.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

James Rodríguez is not playing today. :|

Still, I have faith.
Send them home!

In some of the replays it appeared Neymar was simulating for free kicks and penalties. Definitely not fair play and not in the spirit of the game.

I wouldn’t be shocked if that happened. For the first time in my lifetime, I think Uruguay has a real chance of winning. They have a very solid defense and a very efficient attack. Their problem is having no midfield whatsoever, which makes them rely too much on Suárez and Cavani, so they end up needing a bit of luck. But if it’s any year they win, this is it.
