Some Observations:

Just like the last competition Kanto started off having competition, but instead of Johto it was Alola due to mimikyu's strong performance vs Alakazam, however Kanto managed to pull away from Alola but was being troubled by both Johto and Hoenn for the remainder. Speaking of Johto and Hoenn, these 2 were neck and neck for most of the competition. Johto would be gaining on Kanto, then it would be hoenn passing and going for kanto. These 2 fought tooth and nail and the competition came down to the final round between these 2. Another thing that occured that I found funny was that Unova had a chance to claim 4th via Gold Medals and based off of the previous Generations results, Ace 8 was a strong hold for them, being their silver medal last year. Unfortunately they didn't repeat which allowed sinnoh to shake them off and secure itself its gold medal 4th.

I must say I'm eating crow right now, as I stated last gen that gen 5 would continue to fall while gen 6 would rise. Gen 5 rose spectacularly and gained gold and defeated the other 2 gens in both Gold medals and tied Kalos with Medal count. In fact, in head to head comparisons of wins, Unova beat out both Kalos and Alola in the majority of the rounds but had too many rounds where it lost by a large amount of points. Alola, Kalos and Unova are all very close in points and it can be said Alola only held off Unova due to Mimikyu (and the low voting tally in some rounds).

Sinnoh Competed with Hoenn at times but quickly fell back to 4th place, in fact Sinnoh was so solidly 4th near the end of the competition that it would have been impossible for him to place anything less or anything more.

For the future I can't tell which gens will improve or not especially after seeing gen 5 improve, but I don't think Alola will be doing much of any improving when 8th gen edition comes around, if it ever does
