if witcher is anything to go by. more than half the sales are digital. 

or are they reporting digital here? I mean I doubt its accurate HZD is at ~8million right now and this website shows it at less than 5. 

The Witcher ISN'T anything to go by. It has a HUGE PC feeling, as in, almost as many sales on PC as PS4. And PC gamers are 99.99% digital. Also, in the Witcher 3's first year, the digital distribution was only 30%, which is actually pretty normal nowadays (a bit above average for that year in particular, but probably the average nowadays). 

If I had to guess, sales in the major Western regions is probably around 1.5M first week or 1.58M. That's if VGC's numbers are accurate, which they probably are close.

I was talking only about the PS4 sales. not the PC. they were mostly digital, what does "pc feeling" even mean and it has nothing to do with console sale distribution

It doesn't show the specific digital distribution per console on that chart. It shows two different charts that use similar colors to mean different things. The digital distribution in that chart is just combined distribution across all platforms, I believe. Although I guess I shouldn't say that the Witcher 3 "isn't anything to go by" because that's splitting hairs, the digital distribution is probably 30-35% of total sales.

so if the 50% are digital. that leaves consoles with a maximum of 50% to be physical. but since digital sales  sales are 74%. means only 26% or half the console sales are physical.

Ah yeah I didn't think of that! That's true. Like I said though, no point in arguing over it since I was being needlessly corretive. That being said, you should keep in mind that it's more than likely that the older a game is, the higher the digital ratio will be. I doubt that MHW came out of the gate with a 50% digital  attach rate, it could happen though. 

PS4 is killing it right now, even if exclude Monster Hunter and DB Fighterz's numbers it would still be the software leader.

Monster Hunter World never released on the xbox in Japan, its exclusive there to PS4.

Probably why its currently 8:1 in PS4 favor on VGCz.
