I switched to PC as a main platform because games on PS3 (skyrim, dragon age 2, among others) where a disaster. Last generation I think the Xbox360 was quite better for people who prefer PC so I doubt your statement holds much truts altough I do think the PS4 is Superior to the Xbox One when comparing launch models it was quite the oposite last generation.
PC gamers are the people who don't care about just using the television and the people who prefer higher framerate and graphical videllity and have more money to spent.
They are pretty much the target-audience that the ps4 pro and xbox one x are going for but with a higher budget then $500
