Avatar releases on Blu-Ray and DVD April 22nd in the U.S.A. Not sure about the rest of the world, though.

Avatar broke first day record for blu-ray release.

Avatar should boost the sales of Blu-Rays way up. It sold 1.5 million, I believe. I'll wait for the November release with the special features and the extended director's cut of the film. I understand the marketing scheme behind releasing three editions of the movie, but as a consumer, I'm only buying the fully loaded version when it comes out.

I don't plan on buying the 3D version. The 3D TV's are way too expensive, and will be that way for a few years. I'm talking about the next release of the movie coming out in November that's in 2D, but has an extended director's cut and special features.

The 3D version is probably the most fully loaded version of the film, but seeing as as I won't be getting a 3D TV anytime soon, I'll just settle for the pumped up 2D edition releasing near the end of this year.

Here are the numbers for week ending 04/18/2010

Another bad week for Blu-ray,  although the Top 20 ratio had a disadvantage by having only 14 of the 20 titles available on Blu-ray

Blu-ray Ratio is 12:88

Top 20 Bluray Ratio is 16:84

Top 20 Sellers

Edited to use better tables

Blu-ray had a good week this week, will be posting tables soon

Here are the numbers for week ending 04/25/2010

A fantastic week for Blu-ray,  But it was the release of the biggest movie ever, so it was kinda expected.

Blu-ray Ratio is 22:78   (New Record)

Top 20 Bluray Ratio is 43:57

Top 20 Movies

Huge Avatar sales.  I saw that a torrent of a 10+gb ripped blu-ray file broke blu-ray piracy records.  ZOMG, ready?: 200,000 downloads, mostly in the UK and Australia where the disc hadn't been released yet.  Didn't even make a dent.
