Give me Metroid Prime in time for Christmas and I am buying the thing. And port MP1-3 upresed with both motion and standard controller support. Why don't you want my money Nintendo?

This is exactly what I was going to say. They want the mobile games to direct people to their systems, so if AC mobile drops soon they won't want to wait long to get a title out on the Switch. The two questions about whether it releases this year or early next is A) whether they think Odyssey will be enough of a tentpole on its own this holiday and B) whether they feel they have enough tentpoles planned for release in 2018 already. But I'd be surprised if the mobile game is announced without a Switch announcement shortly thereafter. My other predictions: heavy emphasis on ARMS, Splatoon, Fire Emblem and Odyssey. Pokemon Z for 3DS to wrap up that system's major first party software with a bow. Probably a bit of explaining the online services. Maybe a Pokemon spinoff for the Switch. Sizzle reels for indies and third parties. At least one new franchise teased. |
Well I'm sorry I stole your thunder.
On your points, Nintendo will want a lot of titles for the Holiday. This is the first holiday for the Switch. Nintendo will want a blowout. At least two more titles will do that. As an aside, I think people over think Nintendo's pacing thing. Nintendo is doing that to avoid software gaps. With the holiday, Nintendo will want enough titles to entice consumers to carry them into 2018. Four titles over 5 months would do just that.

Ha!
I hope you're absolutely right. I guess I'm pessimistic because of the last gen, but if Nintendo really already has all their development teams, or at least most, firing on the Switch, I could definitely see you being proven prescient.
