It has always been aplied to all consoles, there is a difference between a simple remaster of an old game and a game released simultaneously in 2 consoles, there has never been a debate about the later scenario.

Please.
We had a whole thread dedicated to hate on cross gen ports and remasters on PS4 and XB1. Only 8th gen only games could be labelled as "new games" while cross gen games were "ports". Even the ones that released on PS4, PS3, XB1, and 360 simultaneously and the ones where PS4 and XB1 were the lead platforms.
I thought it was stupid back then and I think it is stupid now. I agree with OP. A game like Zelda BotW is a new game even though it releases on a last gen console simultaneously.
I don't want to derail the thread any further. I just hope that we'll learn from this. Don't shit on something just because it isn't from your favorite company. It's dumb.
Zelda BotW and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe look great. By the logic of some, the Switch versions shouldn't exist and I don't agree with that.

Don't worry. We tend to learn a lot.
The last couple of years we learned that
1. DLC is not totally evil any more under certain conditions
2. Paying for online is not evil because, well because reasons
3. And recently that remasters do not make a new console evil a portconsole.
So much learning lately, so beautful to see it happen. And all it took was a single company to make a difference.
So, no need to worry. If we have accepted DLC, we'll now embrace everything else that we hated up until recently.
