Just picked up a PRO this last weekend so... Been waiting for this update (: Beast mode!

I feel that my Pro purchase over the vanilla is becoming more and more justified not having a 4K TV.  I just need to start playing more games.

I feel ya man, on a 1080P set myself and was sitting on the fence, waiting for a price drop but beast mode tipped the scales (and a killer deal on the console from my boss at work)

You'll get marinally improved load times in pretty much every game with boost-mode on though.

Any idea how that works? More processing power shouldn't really help with loading times unless there's decompression to be done, I would imagine.

Looked around a bit and I may be getting confused and thinking back to the Pro's stock HDD vs the OG's stock HDD, there's a big difference in loading times there. There are definitely some games that load faster with boost-mode but I'm not sure how many or to what degree as there really isn't that much information on it.

From now on the PS4 Pro Boost Mode shall be known as Beast Mode.

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

I really hope that the PSVR 2.40 update fixes the issue where the console crashes my TV when putting a Blu-ray on... It's getting frustrating!!

I would imagine the increase in clock cycle speed for the CPU and faster bandwidth for the RAM are primary contributors; these things are both "unlocked" in beast mode where as at the standard operating level, they are hard capped parallel to the OG PS4 for legacy titles. More gains would be made if you switched over to SSD, as the Pro has a SATA 3 bus over the OG's Sata 2.

Honestly though permalite would be the dude to ask.

might be due to the higher CPU and RAM clock/bandwith of the Pro

Megaton for me. I picked a good time to get a Pro!

It's starting to look like this wasn't an official announcement. I've been following the thread on GAF and there's been no news yet. Shouldn't it have dropped by now if it was official?

The PS5 Exists.

Isn't this still a rumor?
