There is an incredble amount of shovelware on the platform. All the early access titles, mobile ports, indie games seemingly made on a 3 figure budget etc, glad they're filtered out from the front pages. The barrier of entry is so low, everyone who knows how to make a game will put it on there.

I think that you only need to donate something, a few hundreds of US$, to release a game on Steam.
