Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Laura Kate Dale: Switch getting Smash Bros. port, not on launch day.

The reason we're not seeing a 2016 release for those remaining 2016 Smash Amiibo is they are being held for Smash port release.

Switch getting Smash Bros port. Not launch day. Not confirming other Wii U ports. Bayonetta / Cloud Amiibo held for 2017 Switch port launch.

Smash Port is NOT launch day. Targetting first six months. Amiibo launching same day.

Beat you to it lol

Is it that tough to have most of the Wii U library ported by March :^)

It's the only way I can see the Switch succeeding. Imagine walking into the store on launch and there in front of you, Mario Kart, Mario, Splatoon, Smash Bros, Yoshi, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, Zelda. Most consumers won't even know they're Wii U ports.

That has anything with if porting is hard or easy, it has with point thats better to launch console with new games instead of multiply ports, but after launch they could start releasing ports.

I just feel this is a rare exception and opportunity to expose new consumers to the Wii Us library. Because lets face it, the console bombed hard but has gems, so it wouldn't hurt to do some enhanced ports just for the launch. I'm not saying not to do new titles too, as we know there will be a new Mario coming.

Agree, maybe they could have one Wii U port/remaster (MK8, Splatoon or Smash Bros) for launch, but of course it's better in any case to have new games for launch then multiply ports. Also they need to spread the release of strong games, it wouldn't really smart to have new 3D Mario, new 3D Zelda, probably something also new and ports/remasters of MK8, Splatoon and Smash all at launch and than no stonger games until holiday season.

Well shit, I've learned to trust the leaks she reports on. Especially when it's news on Nintendo, she's historically been on the money.
Even about that weird on-rails Until Dawn shooter thing nobody believed her about.
