I got all 150 in Blue. Legit. My brother had Red and I kept starting new files on it to get all the Eevees and such, lol.
Anyway, Oak says congrats and gives you a certificate. Also if you go to the Tower in the huge central city (Saffron, is it?) Near the guy that gives you Eevee there is a room with all the “developers”. One guy says he is the game’s programmer, one says he is the artist and he drew you, etc, etc. If you talk to the guy that says he is the game head developer he always says “Come back when you have all 150 and I’ll give you something”. Well rumor was he gives you Mew, so I told all my friends and when I had 149 we all got together, there were about 10 of us all crowded on a couch in my house as I caught my 150th (it was Taurus). We were ecstatic and talking about Mew as walked back to this guy. I could hardly wait as I walked up to him and hit the A button…. and got his congratulations. -.-
I was so humiliated I shut off the game and haven’t played a Pokemon game since.
