Forums - General Discussion - Legends say China began in a great flood. Scientists just found evidence that the flood was real.

Go back to saying the Earth is only seven thousand years old and that dinosaurs and humans live together. Trying to use science to legitimize your mythology will only get you in trouble.

And here I am wondering why science and myth can't co-exist to some extent.

Ofc it was real, the flood story in the bible was a complete copyright crime taken from several other religions and history-scrolls/tablets /runes from across the world. The summerians had it and that culture is the oldest culture we have found (If i am not outdated)

The flood story from the bible may have also happened. An asteroid may have hit the Earth, causing huge tsunami's around the world. I heard about it awhile back, though I'll have to look for a source.

No because the story about Noah didn't originate with the bible, it originated from Summerian scripture. There might have been a flood in the middle-east but for some Odd reason when the bible was first written, the author probably took the Noah story beliving it to be from that very same flod that he have read so much about elsewhere or if it is a wanderes tale of the great flood. But the story about the big boat and all the animals originated 10.000 years ago. I am not denying that the flood in the bible didn't happen, just that the Noah story was taken from older culture which was big enough to create sculptures and such long before Egypt. Scientific Articles and evidence already suggest that we have had 5 great floods that have been geographically discovered including tons of eyewitness testimonies from cultures thousands of Miles away from each, 100xx years apart does mention a lot about a great flood where the ocean swallowed the land etc. It happened just ten years ago in Asia, that was a great flood. (let us not forget that people 1700-2000 years ago only thought that the places they live are the entire world, it wasn't until we managed to Explore the world once again without nature or cosmos having other plans and forcing us back to start by causing a giant vulcanic out-break in the middle of the revolusjonary progress of knowledge.

If your story Blends fiction and nonfiction. Your story will be found in the fiction section.

a 30 storey building isn't that big of a wave, being about 300ft. Biggest ever tsunami recorded was over 1700 ft and that was in 1958. There are bound to have been a lot of massive tsunami in varous places throughought human history. And just normal floods of devastation from hurricanes and heavy rain. And then there is the normal much higher sea level experienced during times of warmer global temperatures when the poles are virtually ice-free.

Flood myths are everywhere.

I know, almost seems like it truly was a global flood.

Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that basically all early civilizations formed near rivers.  And floods happen near rivers.  And floods are kind of a big deal, especially when your houses aren't up to modern building codes.  So, those are the things you would probably write about.  Maybe it's that.

It was in Alaska, in a very remote area. I heard a story in which two people on a boat atually got caught in it, but survived.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).
